This Garnacha is delicate, sophisticated, and unreasonably elegant. The bouquet is a beautiful blend of wet, thick forest floor, red fruit compote, oak, and a hint of red flowers. It's flavourful with a long finish, achieving an almost perfect balance. I had to open this bottle earlier than intended due to a less than ideal cork condition. Fortunately, it turned out to be a good decision. The wine was in gorgeous form, validating the choice to enjoy it sooner rather than risking potential spoilage.

Compared to Bastarda, Fuente de los Huertos is more powerful and lively. Wild strawberry, blood, raspberry, oak, red flowers and wet forest floor. Almost perfectly balanced and nuanced with a long flavourful aftertaste. Luckily, I have one more bottle. Curious to see how it evolves.

Once again, I confirm this high-altitude Garnacha can be easily mistaken for some warm Pinot Noir. Stewed wild strawberries mixed with blood, milk chocolate, roasted bark, and red flowers. Better to chill it a little bit. Delicate, fresh and nuanced with a mineral finish. Unseemly quaffable. Just don't tell anyone!

A beauty to fall in love with. More sophisticated, delicate and elegant than Andrinal. Wild strawberry, raspberry, roasted bark, red flowers, wet forest floor, milk chocolate, and blood. Almost perfectly balanced, nuanced with a long flavourful aftertaste. In a blind tasting, I would talk about the mineral version of good Pinot Noirs from the Southern Island of New Zealand.
Wine #4 on Mixed Bag Vol. 3 event.
Ca' di Mat
Curro Bareño and Jesús Olivares, already experienced with challenging regions through their Fedellos do Couto and Peixes projects (which they later merged into simply Fedellos), embraced the challenge of Gredos, finding old vineyards. In 2016, they founded a new winery called Ca' di Mat, meaning House of Fools in Piedmontese, reflecting the founders' adventurous spirit and willingness to take risks in exploring and reviving lesser-known wine regions. Their approach hasn't changed much, with a focus on minimal intervention and respect for the environment, but here they reveal a different terroir.
